Welcome to the B&K Housewarming

We finally had our housewarming party at our new place!  "Finally" because friends have been asking us when are we going to have a party and so we picked a day of 26th April 2014 and prayed for good weather.  It was meant to rain actually and I truly believe it was an answered prayer when on Saturday morning we saw the sunlight peeking through the clouds. We put up some bunting in our garden, guess whose idea was it? K spent a whole afternoon assembling this gas BBQ machine. Also had to go to the home ware store to buy this 10kg gas canister (which I am so paranoid of it exploding) I was really excited and also worried that the food we bought were not enough.. told K to have Dominos Pizza number in handy because that shall be our last resort!  We wanted to keep it convenient for everyone and so told friends to come anytime after 2pm.  We invited about 30 people in total and we had 22 turning up - not bad at all!  Considering we are in the outskirts now, I love Noel

A day in the life of… me basically!

I've been meaning to blog about my life here.  Not like just life in general, but more of my typical work day.  This blog has just crossed the 6 year mark (hooray!) and I honestly never imagined I could blog and keep it going for so long.  Although comments have dwindled a lot, I am not so sure who is reading this anymore.  (Hello, anyone out there??)  Nonetheless for the handful who are still reading this, I thought I would blog about a typical day in the life of… me. The daily alarm rings at 7.11am.  I know, it's a random time but I like it.  Other times I set the alarm for 7.24am.  I am proud to say that I think I am one of the faster girls amongst my friends who can get out of the house in 20min flat with make up and all.  Like everyone else on planet earth, I snooze.  Sometimes with phone in hand so I can swipe it away conveniently when the alarm goes off again.  I jump up at 7.35am and stumble out of bed into the bathroom.  K stumbles (and I mean really stumble) out of

Unleashing the artsy side in me

Ok close friends who know me well know I love doing stuff with my hands.  Back in Singapore during our JC and uni days, I love coming up with beautiful birthday cards for my girlfriends within my group so much so that Cin told me to "please stop now Bel, we are getting stressed thinking of what birthday card to DO for you!"  Lol I thought that was really funny. If you have read my blog often enough, you do know that I have dipped my hands into some Groupon sort of deals, going for classes once in a while learning what I term "life skills".  One of the memorable ones was going for my first silk screen printing class with K where we produced a cool looking artwork each.  (I was thinking I could probably be the next Warhol?)  Then I went for a soap making class because I was intrigued and thought it would be pretty cool to learn how to make soap.  (Not that I use them anyway.)  Subsequently I went to a macaroon making class which I would like to say is the most usefu

Hanami at Brogdale

We had a Japan-esque experience yesterday in Faversham, Kent when we went for the Hanami event at Brogdale Farm.  Jixian first suggested it last week after our SG Day and I loved the idea of it immediately.  We were hoping for great weather so we could have a picnic outdoors under a canopy of cherry blossom trees.  Indeed it was!   Faversham is about an hour's drive from our place, and together all 6 of us went in two cars.  We met at Brogdale Farm and before the tour started, we left all our picnic food with the reception lady who would then drive it to the picnic area for us when the tour ended.  Our walking tour guide was Ann, who explained to us the different types of trees and orchards in their 150 hectare farm.  The main reason for this farm is for research purposes, such as cultivating apples in the global climate we have now, how to grow bigger, sweeter apples or pears, etc.  However some of them are for sale, since this farm is huge.  March is the flowering
