New house, New eBay adventure

If you recall two months ago I had a slight eBay misadventure.  I bought a cupboard by accident lol.  And K was really not impressed.  We ended up paying almost the same price as the cupboard in transportation because the seller was based in Birmingham. Most of our close friends and family know about it already but I guess it's always good to make it "official" by saying K and I got a place here recently!  The past two months we have been very busy trying to look into things we need to get done in the house before moving in.  And if you have hung around my blog long enough you would probably know that I have a solid history of moving house in the past 5+ years here in London.  In fact, once every year!  And well to think I thought moving in with K was the last move here… alas.  haha oh well, Mich is still joking about it, asking me if I owe loan sharks money, that's why I'm always on the move! We have been really busy in the past few weeks - working from Monda

In the mood for some Fishball Noodles

I've often lamented that we cannot find any good fish ball noodles here in London.  If I master that, I think I can make some good money here selling fish ball noodles. Yesterday we spent the afternoon with K's group of friends who are from Singapore.  In a way, this is the group of friends that keeps us grounded and connects us to home: the Singlish words that form part of every sentence spoken ( wah-lao… how can like that??) , sharing of happening news back home (I think we first heard of the riots back home from the whatsapp chat group, or the recent "Private property prices are falling!").  They are the friends that jio-ed us to sign up for Singapore Day (29th March 2014, here in London baby!).  Basically the sort of friends that practice comradeship and look out for fellow Singaporeans which I think is very sweet. Or on the other hand, you can call them the cliquish bunch.  Cliquish because everyone is in the same season of life and currently K and I stand ou

Come Dine with Jan & Kine

We had our second instalment of our "Come Dine with Me" series, this time with Jan and Kine.  Like the Geesons, they sent their menu out a week before the dinner date and I have to say whoa it looks equally impressive. K and I spent the afternoon painting our bedroom at our new place and so we were admittedly quite late for dinner.  I was fretting about like a mad woman but thankfully they were nice enough and felt bad that we were doing work beforehand so once we arrived, everything was fine.  Jan was busy preparing the food and Kine was busy serving drinks.  How interesting it is that so far, both chefs are the guys!  Hmm.. I think when it comes to mine and K's turn, I will be the chef and he can be the butler. lol We didn't take too many photos that night, only two to share.  Shows you how good the food is that we forgot about photos.  And great, we found out that Jan used to work in a restaurant and learnt some good tips.  Unfair advantage we all say! ;
