Czech out my new friends! :)

I have been exposed to the Czech community quite frequently thanks to M. Her brother and 3 friends came over last week while I was away. I met them when I got back, and they left 2 days later. I have a confession. Can I be totally honest that I wasn't looking forward to having so many guests in the flat, especially there is only one toilet. And after a week of holiday, I just want to nua , do nothing and not talk or entertain people. Unfriendly B I know. But I'm sure you know what I mean right. However, after meeting them, I felt so bad because they were such a lovely bunch of people! *hangs head low in shame* Little did I realise they had planned this trip exactly a year ago, and this is M's best friend we are talking about. They literally grew up together since the day they were born, and are closer than sisters. And then there is A, her brother (who has rippling muscles btw lol) and his model quality girlfriend M. She is tall (very tall at 1.82m *gasp*) and slen

Yet Another Surprise!

B loves surprises. This evening when I opened my front door, I saw another bulky package for me!! Wow, I am loving a surprise everyday! It's an early birthday present from my family =) A lovely flowery summery dress pour moi and a neatly written card from my brother across the miles. Happy bel :D

Surprise!!

Just back from my last summer trip (yes yes again I know.. will blog about it deffo, you know you want to read about it hehe) but anyway after dragging my feet up the stairs into my room, I saw a surprise package for me on my bed. For me!! And it's from the Queks... omg when I opened it, I was soooo happy! So happy!!! Thanks Alicia & QKL for the mooncake! It's a pleasant surprise! Muacks!!!

I met Elizabeth Gilbert!

Shortly after doing my mini book review of Eat Pray Love, I found out (thanks to Bridget), that Elizabeth Gilbert's coming to town! And there's gonna be an "In Conversation" session with her at Cardogan Hall. I asked M and Jos if they were interested but for some reason or another, they couldn't make it and I was left debating if I should just go alone anyway. Which I did because how often do I get that excited about a book and to find out the author's coming your way? So then I signed up and paid GBP20 for my ticket. Before I rushed off from work, I told Askar and Cyrus where I was going and they were shocked. They cannot imagine going for such an event plus having to pay for it. "Twenty quid?!" was their reaction. When they asked me what book was it, I answered "Eat Pray Love", and they were appalled. They said maybe (just maybe!) if the book's called Eat Eat Eat, they would be interested. hahaha these guys!! Just don't

When I grow up, I want to be a plumber.

haha you must be wondering what kind of a title is this. Let me bring you back to a statement my manager told me 2 years ago. "Plumbers are said to be the happiest people in the UK." You must be going "Huh" right? This is apparently so because they are one of the highest paid people around (besides those strike-loving Tube drivers). And today I had a taste of it. Our bathroom sink and the bathtub have been getting more and more clogged in recent weeks. At first, I tried to tahan . And the situation became worse. To get an idea... after brushing my teeth, the whole sink will be filled with water till almost to the brim before it takes like a good 5 minute to subside. It was very, very frustrating. M said her colleague recommended getting this liquid thing called One Shot and pour it in. Should be very effective, she said. So I went for a hunt. Oooh turns out that this "liquid thing" is proper industrial strength sulphuric acid! whoaa.. a bit sc

Little blessings along the way

Jos prepared dinner for us.. of baked pasta and roasted veg with halloumi cheese (her current fav- roasted courgettes) ~~~~~ M went to Geneva over the weekend and came home with a box of macarons for me! So sweet of her =) ~~~~~ And then it was brunch at Sabrina's on Sunday before we went to church. I can't believe it's been 3 months since we last met (hopefully not another 3 months to our next meeting!). We both have just been so busy this summer and inheriting the so-called "Wonder Woman Syndrome" (where you try to cram as much things in your schedule as possible). So having a slow brunch on a sunny Sunday morning was really good. Brings me back to the simple pleasures of life. Good food, good company. Thanks dearie :)

Eat Tan Laugh in Italy

Sardinia is a beautiful beautiful island in the Mediterranean Sea, south of Corsica (which belongs to France). Every summer, the rich and famous, the families, or simply anyone yearning for a great beach holiday flock to islands like Sardinia amongst others. After some research, Olbia (northeastern Sardinia) was where I really wanted to go and it's said to have the most beautiful beaches on the island, but it was ultra expensive especially over a UK bank holiday. Hence we decided to fly to the north western city of Alghero. Alghero ("al-ghee-ro") is a quiet coastal town, with a rich history dating back to 900 years ago. The city centre is small with it's narrow cobbled streets lined with Italian cafes, gelato shops, restaurants, and of course piazzas with al fresco dining. Being too desperate for the 3 S factors sun, sea and sand, Jos and I decided to pamper ourselves and choose a really nice hotel. Of course we couldn't afford the most beautiful hotel Villa
