Summer with the locals | Norway - Day at the Beach / Take it easy, guys!

Thank God the riots have died down right after they deployed 16,000 policemen on the streets of London, so allow me to finally finish blogging about Norway. After a super tiring day climbing Preikestolen, we opted for a easy and relaxing third day. Breakfast al fresco to take advantage of the morning sun I went around taking some photos of Karin's garden which she is so proud of. Many kinds of colourful plants, an apple tree.. even a little strawberry patch! My grandma would love having a garden like hers. Flowers ... and lavender too! It was yet another bright and sunny day so Kine's dad drove us around their little town and explained to us bits of their history here and there. Nothing beats a personal tour guide like him. After that, he dropped us three at their local beach. We planned to lie on the beach that afternoon and go for a little bit into the waters. That was about as much as we planned to do. When we reached there, it was crowded. Full of l

Summer with the locals | Norway - Preikestolen

Norway. Home of the fjords. I was lucky enough to see the amazing fjords on the Oslo-Bergen route three years ago with Cynthia, and for this trip, Kine suggested we could go to one of the most famous tourist attractions- Preikestolen aka The Pulpit Rock near Stavanger. This is one of the most popular fjords in the south and the huge rock rises up almost vertical 600m above sea level. It looks like a pulpit hence the name. Gearing up for our day trip! It's gonna be a long day ahead. Kine getting driving directions from her dad and we just took random pics hehe.. I climbed into this cart thingy which her dad uses to bring home chopped wood for use in winter. Some sights along the way. We passed by so many lakes and I am always mesmerized by mirror reflections in the water. Kine grew up swimming in lakes near Sogne. Aww how nice! Being huge in land, their perception of "far" is different from us Singaporeans. To get there from Sogne, we had to travel 7h t

Summer with the locals | Norway - Island Hopping

I am so behind in blogging! I'm just back from Norway for a short 4 day trip to my dear friend Kine's hometown of Søgne. You should have read by now in the news of the crazy gunman who created so much destruction in this peaceful and beautiful country, and it was really unfortunate to have happened. We were told that all TV shows in Norway have been replaced with non stop news of this tragedy, as people are still reeling in shock as how such evil can happen in this peace loving country. In Kine's garden; love this pic of us :) me and my fav Norwegian girl On Thursday, we flew in to the nearest city of Kristiansand in southern Norway. Really blessed to be able to spend a short few days in this gorgeous country with the locals. We learnt so much about the country than we would have otherwise on our own, and we were welcomed with open arms by the amazing Nordstokka family. Day 1, where everything was blue all around. The sky, the sea... gorgeous! In fact on th
