Halloween Party

My second Halloween milestone happens in 2011. Halloween's never big in Singapore and it almost meant nothing to me before I came to London. Last year, Marketa bought back three big pumpkins and taught us girls how to carve out Jack-O-Lanterns and we had such a great time. This year, I am tempted to do the same, but before that my new manager Aneeza kindly invited K and I over to her house for a Halloween Dress Up party. Yes a dress up party. Initially we were excited over the possibility of dressing up. But with such a busy work week, I thought we could be the boring Singaporeans and turn up in normal clothes. On Friday night before we left work, Aneeza reminded me again her address (all the way over in Wimbledon village in southwest London) and mentioned most of the people invited will be dressing up. Oh. Ok. Panic. Now I don't want us to be the boring Singaporeans! Being the perfect hostess that she is, she recommended me this costume shop near Old Street which is s

eXploring London | East Meets West

M moved to Maida Vale in August and she has been saying how pretty that part of London is (think she forgot to use the word Posh hehe). Today she arranged for us East London girls to hang out in her new 'hood. Met them at 1pm promptly for lunch at this beautiful cafe called The Summerhouse which is by the canal in Little Venice. Everything in there is white/ blue/ stripes and touches of beach and sea stuff all over. I like. As it was a beautiful day, M suggested us taking the 45min boat ride from Little Venice to Camden Lock. I think I still had a little bit of jet lag left to conquer but overall it was a good and enjoyable day for me. Even though I met them with the exception of Kine for my birthday afternoon tea beginning of the month, it seems like ages ago, almost a distant memory. And they were all eager to hear about my trip back home, as well as Kine's trip to Israel. Now that we all live far apart having all congregated in the east together before, we do rea

Birthday Blessings | Singapore

I am finally home! For a short 10 days, that is. Guess the good thing is that hehe I have been showered with presents from friends and red packets from my family for my birthday. Although I have to say after the 13h flight across two continents, my birthday feels like ages ago for some strange reason. Met the girls on Sunday but I was so jet lagged I could barely keep my eyes open. Wen and I were presented with a pot of birthday handmade cookies from Cor, and both Cin and Zhu decorated them in the cute flower pots. How creative :) Thanks girls! Last night I met up with Min and Mimi, my oldest buddies in the world ;) It's always so nice to meet up and share some good laughter. They had arranged a surprise birthday cake for me that caught me so off-guard. Love you my dears!

Birthday Blessings | London

T'was my birthday last week, two days before I flew back to Singapore. Besides having lots of work stuff to clear, I was also busy catching up with friends, and there was also the birthday dinner with the boyfriend. Laduree opened a new outlet in Covent Garden! Such a blessed weekend because that's the weekend of the Indian Summer and so we could sit comfortably on the patio in sleeveless tops and summer dresses. And it's already October - unbelievable :) I invited Elissa to join us as well. We parked ourselves there for 3h chatting before adjourning to the 6pm church service. Gabby's present definitely fits into the theme of my house and Marketa gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers On my actual birthday, I was rushing thru so much work before leaving for my holidays that the day went past in the blink of an eye. I managed to run out for a quick one to get some birthday sweets for my colleagues from M&S, and then running out at 630pm for dinner wit

Gotta rush.. for the last bit of sunshine while it lasts!

This week London has been having unbelievably good weather. The Indian Summer, they call it. Temperatures have soared up to 27deg considering it's autumn and it's already October! In an almost desperate attempt to make use of this bonus sunshine, I proposed our last picnic for the year at Greenwich Park which is the biggest sprawling park closest to my place. The whole Greenwich Village area was super crowded as you can imagine. People were snapping up cold drinks, sandwiches and fruits in the local M&S store. The queue was like a long snake, and I swear I could almost feel everyone's desperate attempt to rush to the park and just lie there soaking in as much as vitamin D as they can to store up for winter. Greenwich Market was packed and we managed to squeeze thru the crowd to get some lunch before making our way to the park. The crowd on the little hill; Hello Ladybird! K loves his books ...and I got a lil bored so I explored some photography apps on my iphone.
