Springtime at home

16 episodes zoomed past like that and with that, I have finished watching Descendants of the Sun (DOTS).  Now I consider myself a fan, one of the millions in Asia and round the world.  I started watching the drama feeling somewhat skeptical especially I've never been into K drama - remember I watched to find out what the fuss was about - and yes now I conclude the fuss is legit!  This is a really good one (good plot, superb main cast) that I am now a massive fan.  Still considering if I should start watching another series but I doubt there is be another better one than this. So whilst I try to get over my sadness at the conclusion of the series, here are some pics of springtime in our garden.  What's happening in the garden you wonder? Well we haven't really stepped in the garden since last autumn so it's pretty overgrown now with weeds slowly taking over the lawn especially on the sides.  Growing season has started, people!  One coniferous tree is leaning forward,

Springtime at Leeds Castle

Ah it's been rather quiet here.  And the reason?  Well… I've got a confession to make. I've been kept very busy watching DOTS, or more commonly known… Descendants of the Sun (lol)! A Straits Times article said that if you haven't heard of it, you must be living under a big rock.  To be fair, it should be more like "under a big rock in Asia" because it is an Asian phenomenon.  What a success this show has been.  How it started for me is this: back in March when we were in Singapore, my girl friends and I saw a few news articles about how the Chinese government was concerned about their citizens watching this Korean TV drama and getting hooked on it (true story).  And then I saw my cousin sharing a clip from the show on Facebook.  My interest was duly piqued then and soon, at least an article or two of the leading actor appeared on my Straits Times news feed everyday (everyday!).  My Singaporean and Malaysian girlfriends here also started talking about

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

Two Saturdays ago we were invited to the Kim's for a themed dinner, specifically a Murder Mystery dinner party.  What is that, you might ask.  It was our first time attending such a dinner too, and so how it works is: a group of people attend a dinner party.  Each is assigned a role and will be given a script to read that night.  The aim of the party is to identify a murderer in the midst of us by the end of the night.  The hosts would work off a dinner game set (they got it off Amazon) and it comes with proper invites, setting/ scene, table name cards, scripts and even a suggested menu.  Clearly RX is an Agatha Christie fan. Two weeks beforehand, we received our invites in the postbox, telling us what roles we each have been assigned and the suggested attire (and props if necessary).  Interesting yes? The dinner was to start at 7pm and we were to have 8 people that night.  It's all very mysterious… Our invitation cards assigned K the role of Monsieur Bertrand, a f

(Another) Surprise Birthday Lunch

I think this would conclude the series on K's 40th birthday. Amidst all the surprises, I did plan one last one, just me and him.  I was doing some research on where to bring him on this milestone birthday, and I came across a deal - 3 courses and a glass of champagne. It looked reasonable enough especially considering it is at THE RITZ *gasp* actually make it *super gasp* I have to say my heart was beating with excitement after booking a table for both of us a month before.  Friends told us that it is a snobbish place with the strict dress code and all, but you know what, they can do what they want because it is The Ritz. Backtrack- you have to remember we just came back from our exhausting road trip and K wasn't in the best of mood.  He kept reminding me I've been banned from organising road trips westwards of London unless I get more people (i.e. drivers) next time, or I get my licence.  And I knew he would want to stay at home all day Monday doing nothing.  Du
