Sharon visiting

Right after Li Hoey & family went back, I have Sharon from church dropping by for a short two days coz she is here for work and extending 3 days here in London. On Sunday, I brought her to Hillsong church for the 5pm service :) and then we had dinner at a nice Italian restaurant Strada with the beautiful Tower Bridge in the background. It's been more than 5 months since we met and had my farewell with the CG back in Kehan's place and she updated me on what's going on in the CG and we just had a good time catching up. inside the restaurant; after dinner.. hee yes I went shopping with Cynthia before church service. Getting ready for Fall by buying lots of leggings and leg warmers! haha For dinner tonight, I suggested going to Canary Wharf area and we had Spanish food for dinner, "Tapas for a Tenner", you pay GBP10 and can order as many Tapas as you want. A bit too salty though but it was good conversation over dinner. *miss the fellowship with CG mates like her

Cotswold again

Sometime back if you remember I went with May to the Cotswold region to do some village hopping: Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold & Bourton-on-the-Water. We know that Cotswold is made up of many small villages, many of which are pretty inaccessible so when a kind passerby told us there is a mini Cotswold authentic steam "choo-choo" train that runs thru some of the villages, we were quite excited to read up more. And Saturday was the day we decided to give it a try - our Cotswold Adventure. The steam locomotive; sign for Toddington Station It was super a lot of travelling time! We took a train to Paddington station to take the national rail out to this place called Cheltenham Spa, which itself is part of the Cotswold. From there we had to take a bus to the city centre, and then from there, we took a local bus no 606 to Toddington to take the steam train called Gloustershire Warwickshire Railway which runs thru the villages Cheltenham, Winchcomb & Toddington. Cambridge

This is a back dated post meant for last Sunday 21 Sep. Together with Li Hoey mama and family & Cynthia, we intended to go Oxford but a last minute unforeseen decision changed it to Cambridge. Cambridge is indeed a very "academic" town. You can just feel it in the air. Doesn't this logo look all too familiar to all of us? With baby Gerrard to take into consideration, we managed to leave our place only in the late morning and when we reached Cambridge it was early afternoon. Very very relaxing day indeed.. went to just one college, Clare's College roamed a bit in the city centre.. and soon 5pm, most stores were closing and slowly transforming it into a dead town. We figured it would be wise to just take the train back to London. Clare's College in Cambridge; inside a common hall. Doesn't it remind you of a smaller version of the Harry Potter dining room? busy bel

omg.. it's been quite some time since I wrote anything here! And I know I am supposed to post pictures of Rome & Barcelona. (Don't even remind me about Norway.. haha has anyone been waiting for that or plain forgotten about it? Jie reminded me sometime back... whoops!) Not that I am procrastinating but there's just so much work you know. Work in office is busy busy and crazy crazy. It's just so intense and esp market is just so bad now it gets to everyone. So.. yea not exactly enjoying my work now leh. sigh -__- Also, we have our second batch of guests at our place now - Li Hoey, her hubby and their little prince Gerrard is at our place now. Been here since last friday night and will be going back SG on Sunday morning. Gosh having a baby around is just... such an eye opener. There's just so many things to fuss about, to be done around that little one. And the biggest sacrifice? Sleep!! 0_0 Amazing strength and energy Li Hoey and Zhi Hao have.. applause to

Market Turmoil

Now this is a title which I never really imagined I'd post but well.. it's really sad to read in the news about Investment Bank Lehman Brothers filing for bankruptcy and Merrill Lynch being acquired by Bank of America. Makes me think of my dear friend B in Lehman.. wondering how is she now. It is very real coz the whole day my boss literally worked till red in the face, overwhelmed by the amount of work he had to do, finding out all the deals we have facing LB. LB's offices in London are at Canary Wharf, and today C happened to walk past it and later told me she saw people coming out of the building with cardboard boxes filled with their stuff, and some even pulling small hand held luggages as they walk out. 5,000 jobs lost like that in London. 160 years of history.. all gone now. Just this evening, my classmate from French class said his gf works in LB London and was handed a letter this morning and told not to come in office anymore... at least for the next three wee

Wrapping up Project LPRB

Time flies and it's been a full two weeks since the girlies arrived at my place and the last two days were spent lala-ing in London, where they slept till 11am and leaving my place almost close to lunch time. "Slow pace", they assured me. I am well convinced! Superwomen?!; Their fave nutella "gao-gao" (thick) crepe from Covent Garden! Their second go at it. Wednesday night, I suggested dinner at the famous fatty duck at Four Seasons and well well.... Cin & Zhu loved it soooo much. Four thumbs up from them! We ate so much and had such a satisfied look when we emerged from the restaurant. Chinese food - still the best! haha look at how happy Cin is! Definition of bliss. Thursday night we just decided to chill out at home; cooking our own dinner and Cindy making her version of Sangria. Friday night again, they voted to have a slow and easy night and as it was raining, I voted for my ah ma's chicken porridge, plus some pan fried salmon to go along and fin

Girlies have arrived!

It's been a while since I updated my blog, mainly because my jiemeis from home are here (yippee!) and we have well.. been travelling together :) My lovelies! The company's awesome! *Wen we miss you here!* Dubbed Project L-P-R-B, it has been a crazy 2 weeks! We went to Paris, Rome and Barcelona and the rest of it, they are just gonna chill in London. Don't laugh but they decided to give a theme for each leg of the trip.. just to liven up the mood lah. So here goes, Pretty in Paris, Lazy in London (indeed!), Relax in Rome, and. haha Babelicious in Barcelona (couldn't think of another better B word!). What happens? It became more of Pathetic in Paris and Rushing in Rome! haha quite funny. Let me explain in brief.. but before that, some pics of the girls arriving at my humble abode at 6am in the morning. Introducing... Corinne & Cindy... & ...our camera-woman Fengzhu aka Zhu

Paris

Paris being our first stop was the one which got us all excited... they wanted to dress up pretty pretty to shop in downtown Champs Elysees esp looking for Cor's Speedy 25. In the end, hot weather plus jet lag (13h straight to London, and then headed straight for Paris) for them just ruined everything. The breaking point was when we were climbing uphill to Sacre Coeur in their wrong footwear and then rushing back to our hotel to grab our bags and squeezing in the trains back to Gare du Nord station for our Eurostar train. My biggest disappointment was not being able to visit my long awaited Musee d'Orsay :( not enough time since we were there only for 2 days! Mini itinerary for Paris Day One Notre Dame Cathedral Arc du Triomph sunny day! - we were surprised at how hot it was compared to London!
