Pre Summer Garden Party at the Ong's

K and I both love having people around and so a few weeks ago we invited about 13 other friends to join us for a pre summer garden party.  I didn't think we planned for that many people but over here, someone will be a friend of a friend who also knows our other friend so it gets complicated to exclude and therefore safer to invite everyone.  We had hoped for good weather and was disappointed to see the weather forecast for a rainy Saturday.  We ordered food from the supermarket to be delivered on Friday night and friends were kind to ask us what they could bring as well.  I was a bit nervous as seldom do we have that many guests and I wasn't sure how much food would 15 people consume? On Saturday morning it was cloudy but temperature wise was not too bad.  We could stand in the garden without feeling the chill.  In fact hubby K decided to mow the lawn in his shorts!  By 11am we soon starting pottering about in the kitchen, cooking stuff in the oven and I was doing last minut

Life these days - Sedentary

We have truly cut down on traveling these days.  We feel more settled at home, it's like the next stage of life?  Rushing to the airport, waiting to board the plane, landing in a foreign land, taking out the map, navigating around... these don't seem as appealing to us as before. Last Saturday I woke up to see K mowing the lawn in our garden which was a pleasant surprise.  As I mentioned, it is the growing season and the grass is growing really well.  Little white daisies are sprouting all over the lawn - see the white dots on the ground. Hard at work We are still looking for a new front door and we had someone come over to measure and give us a quote.  Hmm we are still undecided.  In fact K felt safer to visit their showroom in Crayford, about a 30min drive away into Kent.  Since we had no real plans other than grocery shopping, we thought we'd visit the showroom.  We saw the sample doors in the shop yes, but the sales guy was out that afternoon except for a girl

When the sun comes out | Weekend at home

We had a chilled out last weekend - it was probably the warmest weekend we've experienced all year.  23deg people! We started Saturday with our cleaner coming over in the morning, and then we sat down for a nice 'local breakfast'.  We got this sausage bun from Chinatown the night prior, along with two cups of Nescafe White Coffee from Singapore :) Whilst I was away at Colour Conference the other weekend, K got a garden clearance team to come and literally clear our garden.  To be fair I say team but it was apparently a Polish uncle with his lady boss telling him what to do.  Poor uncle.  Whilst I was happy the deed was done, I came home to find out that he cleared away all the weeds including my favourite plants too!  Boohoohoo.. and K thought they were weeds… :( Well I guess it gives me a chance to plant what I really like.  We've also got a gardener to come and do regular maintenance because after 2 years, we realise that we have no green fingers.  Two trees h

When the sun comes out | Bank Holiday weekend

We've been experiencing good weather recently and it feels so nice. Last weekend we met up with some Singaporean friends for a dim sum lunch at Min Jiang at Royal Garden Hotel.  It might sound familiar to you but Min Jiang is a Singaporean restaurant and when we stepped out of the lift on the 10th floor where the restaurant is, we were pleasantly surprised by the view. Gorgeous view of Hyde Park! Lunch with a view We met two new faces from Singapore which is pretty nice to get to know new friends once in a while in this part of the world.  The food was really good, in fact I will want to go back again soon, just a shame that it is quite a trek from our home.  We had to travel for more than an hour, not sure if K wants to do it again soon. After lunch, the sun was still shining and we decided to take a walk in Hyde Park. Taking a break near the Serpentine lake The next day was Bank Holiday and we had the Geesons over for tea.  Gabby's grand
