Destination Iceland!

Iceland was never part of my must go places simply well... because I thought it's just covered in ice or smtg.. *pardon my ignorance* until I came over to London and then Cynthia's friends asked if we wanna join them but due to leave reasons we gave it a miss and decided we would both go ahead during the August bank holiday. It was such a wonderful & enjoyable trip that now I understand why people who've been to Iceland would tell me it is one of their favourite countries. Some fast facts I found out during the trip: It is one of the biggest islands in Europe. It is one of the least polluted countries coz it uses geothermal energy. It has a population of only 320,000, and half stays in the capital Reykjavik (pronounced Rey-ker-vik). Downtown Reykjavik 70% of the land is uninhabited. In the middle of nowhere Where silence can be deafening Also known as land of fire and ice. There are more than 30 volcanoes and hence many lava fields, n r

BBQ - the South African way!

Last Friday the first connect group which I attended with Ivy held their dinner party too, in the form of a BBQ. (Well I think coincidentally to make up for the BBQ misadventure we had in the Lake District?!) Most of the people in the group are from South Africa and we went to Louw's place after going home to pick up my Wardolf Salad (yums - see I learn smtg from serving in PRA). I invited Cynthia to join us since it was nothing "Christian-y" about it; it was just a gathering. We met a lot of people, lots more than the first time I attended and it was nice. There was this pair of sisters from Ecuador, one of whom we thought is so pretty and she looked like a pretty doll with her curls! Louw's siblings were there as well with their other half, and I actually met his sister in law called Belinda as well! heehee so funny, calling her and felt I was calling myself. There was a super abundance of food and it felt warm n cosy in the living room which linked to the back ga

Bunnies at the Park

A totally unrelated post here, but my family back home brought my bunnies out to East Coast Park for a mini picnic session on National Day... (must be inspired by my picnics here. haha) And anyways my bro did this photo thingy for me. aww so touched so decided to post it here. Great job bro - Love it! Presenting Bubbles and Hei :)

Team Dinner again

In many ways, I am very thankful for my team because on our floor in GEM, we are the only ones with team lunches and dinners (something familiar back home) and tonight on a spur, we decided to go for an Indian dinner again, at Lahore Kebab House at Aldgate East. It was so delicious as usual and for once, I like mutton! (I'm usually scared of the mutton smell but this lamb chop has none of it!) After dinner I walked back to Moorgate with Cyrus and Onur; it was a nice cool walk and we had a nice time just talking about work, about office, etc.. usually we don't do this in Singapore but I think we walked about 4 train stations (must say stations are closer over here in central London than SG). Onur said he will bring us to eat nice Turkish food next time. *jiemei if u are reading this.. I know what you are thinking. totally haha* and I am certainly tempted to bring them for a nice Chinese meal next time too. Cross cultural lessons in food. mmm...

Dinner with Sabrina & Joyce

Monday night I met Joyce & Sabrina (finally after so long) for dinner at this french restaurant St. Germain (thanks to Joyce for organising!) So yes Pris, we decided to take a photo as proof that we met indeed! :) Nice evening we had! Sabrina, if you are reading this, let's arrange another one soon!

Our Lake District Misadventure

Yes you saw right - it was a misadventure at Lake District this past weekend! One of the few photos we took with blue skies Lake District has been one of my must-go places (yes another one) in England after reading about how beautiful it is and how it was such a source of inspiration for the famous English poet, William Wordsworth. How beautiful the daffodils are, the clouds, etc... and so, of course I was excited to join JL, Shany and their friends there. And what happened? It rained like crazy over the two days spoiling everything. boohoo And I must stress it is not the normal kind of rain.. it is the persistent kind of rain. It stops for like a few minutes before pouring again and again... and again (you get the picture). What's more, we failed in the logistics for this trip coz we had no accomodation on Saturday night! What turned out to be the original plan of camping in the open became.. well, just taking refuge in the rented car for the night. It was pathetic. Any
