Horse Riding

I've been keeping a secret which I've been bursting to blog about :)  And now is the time to finally blog about it, me thinks.  K and I signed up for a basic beginner's horse riding class which has been taking place every Saturday, for the past six weeks for an hour.  So yup we have been learning horse riding at the farm near our place every Saturday from 1.30pm, and yesterday was the last lesson. The stables in the farm It first started last year when K suggested we should do something fun together, rather than sitting at home watching TV.  (Even though sitting at home doing nothing during winter... sounds quite appealing.)  Around the same time he found out the farm near our place has horse riding lessons and thus eagerly suggested we could do this fun activity together.  My mind raced back to the only other time which I did horse riding.  I was in Iceland with Cynthia and we did a 2h horse riding activity which both fun but scared me to bits because my horse loved

In the mood for some wontons

Recently I've been in a cooking mode.  And this mode means I am not happy when the fridge is empty.  A few times have happened in past months where we both open the fridge and see nothing except our jam and butter.  And we grumble about having the need to do grocery shopping.  It happens in phases I guess.  We were in Chinatown on Tuesday and I went a bit over excited at the Chinese supermarket.  Seldom do we go there for grocery shopping so I bought some wonton skin and fresh egg noodles, pak choi vegetables, some Nissin instant noodles, meatballs and fish balls, and even a small tub of black sesame ice cream. Seeing that today I got my work permit renewed at no fuss (although it cost me too much money) at the Home Office, I thought I'd cook something nice for a mini celebration.  What else but wonton noodles! hehe to satisfy my craving at the same time.  I have tried cooking this for my girl friends before and they loved it, but tonight was a little different because I fina

of snowflakes and snowmen

Look at the weight of the snow on the plants We woke up to this scene on Sunday morning.  WOW so much white all around, Bel was one happy bunny.  Of course it's nice to be indoors under a duvet.. reading or writing, with a cup of hot tea beside the bed.  And occasionally glancing towards the window admiring the snow. But on the other hand, it would be fun to check out how is it like outside!  So after lunch, I suggested to K to have an after lunch walk out in the snow.  By then it was heavy snowfall and I was even more excited.  It's not every day you get snowfall in London with all the high rise buildings around us y'know. I realise it's so different when it snows.  People outside are playing with the snow, laughing and making snowballs throwing at each other, or passers by like us.  We walked part a group of kids and they threw snowballs at us.  Laughing, we had to retaliate and threw some back at them.  It was fun!  And we spotted quite a few snowmen.  The

The Avid Reader

I've always known K loves to read.  He has books in the room, books in the toilet even (yes, it's true).  And he loves to read and reread his books which I don't quite understand.  Not bored of reading the same old?  I have to say I was quite surprised by some of the books on his shelf when I first saw one of the titles, "The rise and fall of Rome".  Umm... serious? Last Saturday he commented that he hasn't been to a bookstore for a long time, and when he was there, he saw the last book of the series which he has been following for 20 years.  Some fantasy storybooks which I have no clue.  He bought it excitedly and said we had to go home fast so he could start devouring - I mean reading - the book. Devour it was.  He started reading after our dinner.  He went to the bed and continued reading.  He read till the wee hours of the morning.  Sunday morning after a quick breakfast, his eyes were still peeled on the pages.  I had no doubt he was going to finish r

Strasbourg - The Capital of Christmas

This shall be my last post of my Christmas trip.  Prior to my trip, I told my friends that it's gonna be a chilled out trip for me.  I don't need to go Christmas Markets, nor the museums... I will be very happy to nua  (laze) at home, chat, catch up, read a book, read magazine (thanks Sabrina, your English gossip magazines came in handy), snooze... you get the idea.  So when I arrived, indeed I didn't want to go anywhere and I was very happy staying in.  On my last second day, Pris and Stephan suggested going to Strasbourg.  Ooh Strasbourg... that is one of the cities which I have wanted to go.  But wait, isn't that in France?  "Yes" they answered, "but it's a 1.5h drive away from here in Stuttgart".  Sounds interesting, plus I think I should at least go out for one day in my 5 day trip here isn't it?  After much debate as it was already noon, we decided to go for it.  Stephan said he could drive very fast lol.  We were aiming to arrive befor
