A turnaround post

Right on the back of a somewhat depressing post, I have some excellent news to share.  I finally (and I stress the word finally !) passed my driving test!!  *cue celebratory music* *cue more celebratory music and add in some happy dance!* At this stage in life, there are two things which I want but they seem to be the bane of my life and just seem impossible.  They are not within my control and it has been an exasperating journey to say the least.  One of them is a driver's licence.  This painful journey started more than 8 years ago when I tried to get my driver's licence back in Singapore just before I relocated and gosh that was such an ordeal, even getting an earlier test date was a Herculean task in itself.  After going through hoops (some you wouldn't believe) they grudgingly offered me a test date right the day before I relocated to London - the chief tester was a sadist - and so needless to say I failed that one shot and had no chance to retake. That whole epis

Hello January

My love and I at Tower Bridge on NYE, before our countdown to 2017 at CY's place Hello January, you haven't been too kind to me.  Geez I've been working crazy hours since the beginning of the year.  There's just so much to do at work.  To much so that I haven't had time to do much. I need to get my life back. So what's happening? Yes you would most probably find us wrapped in a throw at home ...with our winter booties It's been really cold these days although the cold was compensated with heavy snowfall one Thursday night, which was really beautiful.  I arranged to meet K after work somewhere in Kent and when the train pulled up at Chistlehurst station, I saw a blanket of white all over and I did a little gasp.  I saw heavy snow outside the train and it felt so magical.  I got off at Orpington and wow everywhere was white and I was so excited.  Snow-exciting!  I saw this girl standing near the door and we started chatting about what greete

A Very Stuttgart Christmas

I've lost count of my German Christmases by now.  Ever since stepping foot in this foreign land more than 8 years ago (wow has it been 8!) I've been kindly invited to join the Tews for Christmas.  Then I met K and they have also kindly extended the invite to him.  They have truly embraced us like their own, our home away from home. We received our invite back in May, you can only put that down to the German efficiency ;).  It took us a while to accept it as we weren't too sure of our plans then but we finally decided to accept the invite in August.  Flights booked and all, all I could keep my fingers crossed was... for a white Christmas.  I've still not had one can you believe it.  The year I went back to Singapore for Christmas was the year it decided to snow like crazy.. and I think there was yet another year where we stayed in London and it snowed again.  The joke is on me these days, that if Belinda comes to Stuttgart, there will be no white Christmas.  Looking
