It was the perfect day since we arrived in London because the weather was warm and sunny! Not that I love the sun a lot, but in this instance, it was a nice thing to have and somehow Londoners are all out in the streets and the whole atmosphere was very upbeat. Very nice.
We started the day by going to Portobello Market, and Cynthia arranged to meet Grace there. It's very near Notting Hill area so we got a feel of the neighbourhood. Get ready for pics!
We wanted to just dop by Harrods to window shop (tight budget so must watch our purse strings) and once again, this store is massive, has everything (ALL things branded) and never fails to captivate me. The last time I was here.. err 10 years ago.. not much impression but I remembered they charged a £1 to use their washroom (omg that's 3 bucks back home!) and 10 years later, it's free! haha yay~
** So to everyone back home, please go out and eat such fruits more on our behalf!
Back to the store….

Portobello Market
This market is a really nice place full of antiques and vintage stuff which are very interesting. We saw many vintage accessories, antique books, super old telephones (claimed to be in working condition), old vintage cameras, vintage signs, and I even saw newspapers dating back to 1945 during WWII (wanted very much to buy a copy haha. too amazed lah), and many many more. It was very crowded and there were many tourists.
Quaint looking hotel on the way to the market |
We had lunch at this huge market and then popped by Grace's place to see a typical place in Notting Hill area.. it's a studio apartment so it's kinda small.. coz it was converted from a hotel. The location's great though. After that she brought us to Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park & Harrods. A lot a lot of walking today.
Kensington Gardens/ Hyde Park
I believe all Londoners were out at the park today coz sun's out on a Saturday afternoon and the park was super crowded. Not that we were complainin' coz the atmosphere was great! People were having picnics on the green grass- some sunbathing, some reading, some rollerblading, and some brought their dogs out... u get the picture.
Shopping in Harrods

Food Hall - so sad when I saw them selling rabbit meat. Makes me think of Hei back home, and wondering how fatty her meat can be. |
"Exotic Fruits" - I can't help but write about these because such fruits which are available ever so common back home, are charged at exorbitant prices over here on this side of the globe!
If you would click on the pics and see the price tags.. gosh it's unbelievable.

Rambutans - £19.95/kg
Mangosteens - £19.95/kg
(unbelievable prices isn't it?)
Thai Coconuts - £10.50 each (gasp! How many can we eat at home with this price converted to SGD?)
Thai Mangoes - £18.95/kg (super gasp!)

Back to the store….
Toys Hall (countless number of teddy bears)
It has been a long long day with lots of walking.. *tired legs now* but it was fulfilling and fun, esp at Portobello Market. We went back home and settled with a simple dinner. Hearing that it might rain tomorrow, we are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for better weather.
Good night to all! *yawn*
