Before May Goes Home...

Sad title but yea, May dearie is flying back to SG this Friday and so this post sums up her trip here and time spent with us. And she's going back to prepare for her wedding...! So happy for her but yet gonna miss her...

Last Thursday we met after work and went to watch Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. The story is actually the prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Not bad but still, I prefer Les Mis more. Overall Wicked is on a lighter note and there are some funny parts whereas Les Mis is very heavy in content if you get what I mean.

Saturday Cynthia went Dublin with her friend (drank lots of Guiness Stout, that girl haha) whereas I went to Bicester Village with May for shopping! Bicester Village is a factory outlet, one of the biggest over here which has like 90+ shops, cannot cover in one day. We took the train to Bicester North, one hour away from London and then took a shuttle bus to the village. Woohoo~ we nearly went crazy. So sad, I spotted a Dior bag which I like a lot and after lunch, we went back and it was sold out! I was in total shock. Lesson learnt. If you like, you have to grab and there isn't time to even think about it coz we were told that each design comes in one or two pieces max. whoaaa…

And no we didn't take any pictures that day coz we were very focussed. =p

Sunday morning, chilled at home.. did housework keke.. vacuum the house (my gosh dunno why so dusty), called home, talked to my dear ah ma and then went out to Oxford Circus for a short shopping *hee yes mini shopping lah* with May before we went for the 5pm church service. Man, it's tough with a church located right in the middle of the shopping street at Tottenham Court Road. I did a search online on Oxford Street and it prides itself to be the busiest street in Europe and get this, the shopping stretches 1.5 miles! That's like more than 2km of shops?! *bel is in bliss* You can check it out too- http://www.oxfordstreet.co.uk/

After church we came home to do a mini Italian cookout! :) I cooked Prawn Aglio Olio (or whatever they call it..) olive oil based spaghetti with lotsa garlic and lotsa prawns.. not bad for a first attempt! While May made Sangria (red wine with some juice and fruits.. niceee!) Completed the meal with lemon cheesecake from Tesco's (our NTUC equiv hehe). Yummyyy

Before tucking in

Looks not bad right!

Realised I met May three days in a row... coz last night (Monday) we met after work together with Cynthia to have a farewell dinner with her at the famous Four Seasons Chinese restaurant.. I tell ya the roast duck here is the best! Even better than SG I feel.. whoa.. if you come find me I will bring you there. But must be prepared for the long wait even though you made a reservation. Business is just toooo good.

On a lighter note, two pics I took outside our apartment, purple flowers in bloom, really pretty and see, even the ducks love it! I snapped a pic of them when I was going to work. They were sleeping just beside the water fountains! So cute :)

Pretty purple flowers

Where did they come from - I had no idea

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

Two Saturdays ago we were invited to the Kim's for a themed dinner, specifically a Murder Mystery dinner party.  What is that, you might ask.  It was our first time attending such a dinner too, and so how it works is: a group of people attend a dinner party.  Each is assigned a role and will be given a script to read that night.  The aim of the party is to identify a murderer in the midst of us by the end of the night.  The hosts would work off a dinner game set (they got it off Amazon) and it comes with proper invites, setting/ scene, table name cards, scripts and even a suggested menu.  Clearly RX is an Agatha Christie fan. Two weeks beforehand, we received our invites in the postbox, telling us what roles we each have been assigned and the suggested attire (and props if necessary).  Interesting yes? The dinner was to start at 7pm and we were to have 8 people that night.  It's all very mysterious… Our invitation cards assigned K the...

Cooking mee pok dry | bak chor and fishball noodles

When I touched down at Changi airport a few weeks ago, I was very hungry and K suggested grabbing a quick bite at the food court.  I immediately went for the queue at the bak chor (minced pork) noodles stall.  This one dish is very local and we simply can't find it here.  London's Chinatown has a few Malaysian restaurants with fried kway teow, chicken rice, laksa, etc but there is no authentic fishball noodles or minced pork noodles. When my friend Corinne shared this link last week, I was intrigued and I didn't know K was too.  He suggested going to the Asian supermarket on Sunday to get the necessary ingredients.  We found Dodo fishballs from Singapore here - what a win!  Unfortunately the mee pok (yellow, flat noodles) is of a darker shade here and tastes slightly different (maybe a different type of wheat?).  We found fishcakes too. http://delishar.com/2015/12/fishball-noodles-mee-pok-tah.html This is a healthier version of the hawker center'...

Our Seoul Adventure (Part 1)

Gosh life has been non-stop since coming back from Seoul.  Work has been very busy, and then Izzy had stomach flu and I was a bit under the weather too.  With this, one month just zoomed passed. Been meaning to continue our Seoul adventure. Day One To be honest we had a rocky start on the first day.  Our 2am flight was delayed till 3am and we were super groggy when we got on the plane.  Kids were sleeping and we had to wake them up.  The stewardess served us food at 4am and we had no appetite whatsoever.  Made worse by the turbulence which scared us so much.  I think in total we each slept about 4h that night.  So thankful that our kids love traveling and did not whine, but i did feel like i floated out of that plane into Incheon airport.  My original plan for Day One was to explore the palace area, have the famous ginseng chicken soup, and then visit the Bukchon hanok village.  Followed by a nice Korean BBQ for dinner.  The mo...
