It's not easy to really know new friends here in London as generally felt by many people we've met, whereas it's so easy to make friends with people back home. The moment you realise he/she is from Singapore, you become friends instantaneously (and all the Singlish words start to come out haha). Well but I've come to realise that a really good place to know more people (locals esp) is thru the church!
August is the month with no connect groups and lots of parties going on (think summer) and this week's theme is "dinner parties" so various connect groups will organise, well.. dinners everywhere in London.
And then tmr night, am meeting another whole new group of friend's friends to go watch err.. dog racing. seriously, no idea what is it exactly or where is it. Just go and join them in the fun lah. It's nice to start to know more people here.. coz like what someone said tonight at the dinner table (haha forgot his name! a bit overwhelmed by the names at the table tonight), London can be a lonely place when you know nobody. Well not that drastic for me definitely but coz I came and knew nobody here; the only people I know here are all Cynthia's friends you see.. so sometimes I feel like I am "sponging" off her friends so to speak and it feels great to be able to know new friends on my own :)

And so for me, I just went for my first dinner party with a totally new Hillsong Ldn connect group (talk about taking that BIG step of faith). Didn't know anyone there, just got an email invite from the leader/ organiser (coz I dropped my details in the box in church many sundays ago) and I just replied "count me in!" And yippee Praise God, turned out to be so nice and enjoyable! The restaurant they picked was by the River Thames and had a good view of Tower Bridge.. and mostly, the company was great. Got to know the bunch of about 10 odd people, and surprise surprise, only one gal Chloe is British. The rest are from all over the world. (Chloe says she is really feeling like a minority here in London. haha but seriously it is very true.) Many in fact, are from South Africa & Australia. Like me, there was also a german girl who was joining the first time. Best of all, all of us stay near the same area (somehow gives a more familiar feel- like we go grocery shopping at the same Tesco hahaa) and it means I will have company for church service next time. yay :D
