Well Rome was much better but we were nowhere near our theme of relaxing in Rome. There was tons of walking to do and under the sweltering heat (isn't summer supposed to be coming to an end?! It was at least 35-38 deg with no clouds, nothing! Just intense heat.) That said, I must say that Rome is a really grand city.
Personally I love the Trevi Fountain. Vatican City is unique in the sense that it is an independant state on it's own. It has a vast collection of paintings, something which I was looking forward to.. but alas, (are we getting old or what?!) we were just so so tired from the walking inside the Vatican and were on an overdose of sculptures and paintings that it just got to a plateau at some point in time. Nonetheless was still excited to see the original paintings/ frescos by Raphael. We took a 4h guided tour and all applause to our guide; she is pregnant but there wasn't a single sign of fatigue in her even tho she had been talking and walking non stop for 4h! The Pope was not in that day; he was in his summer palace (wow he has a summer palace?!).
Somehow Sistine Chapel was not as grand as I thought and photography's not allowed, but I did see one of the most famous paintings The Creation of Adam painted by Michelangelo.
Rome's history is just so so rich.
So our mini itinerary for Rome...
