Great Day Out, Great Night In

I thought this was gonna be a solo & quiet weekend for me since Cynthia is in Lyon with Joselyn & Alicia but it was such a great Saturday :) :)

Morning we had a combined connect group brunch at Cafe Rouge at Greenwich. It was raining, dark & gloomy when I left the house so I thought the turnout might not be that good. Boy was I wrong. The response was great in fact. About 20 of us turned up and I got to know more people in other connect groups near my place. It was really nice. The main guys I know from my CG are Amanda, my CGL, Liandi & Joel and another Joel. Turns out Joel's brother Noel and wife Faith are in another CG and Faith is this really nice girl from New Zealand. Anyway we started talking and she told me Liandi and her are gonna spend an "X-Factor night" at Chloe's place and invited me to join. Since I had nothing on... okie!

Went for massive grocery shopping at Tesco after brunch since our fridge is empty. Christmas stuff are all out "full force" - very hard to resist temptation of those delicious looking chocs and sweets.... .... ... but I resisted anyway. gambatte-ne!!

Right after it poured, the sun came shining thru' and I saw this big rainbow from my balcony; another view from my balcony

In the evening, I went by to Faith's place to meet the gals first. Liandi works in a very high end spa (she's served Hollywood stars can you believe it) and over at Faith's place, wow I saw she brought this whole array of nail polish from her previous day's roadshow, and she offered to do manicure for me.. omg.. so nice of her! And teehee so I requested for french manicure.. and tada...!! so happy, my first painted nails since I came London! blessing eh...

It's been so long since I saw Chloe, appears she has moved to Clapham North now. Nice English place.. so anyway this X Factor thing.. (don't laugh at me Sabrina, I have no TV at home!) it's like American Idol but British version. So it was funny watching with them coz Chloe's housemate was so agitated and vocal with her crude yet funny remarks. She claims her toe can sing much better than one of the contestants. Simon Cowell is one of the judges but how come I feel he is much more lenient with his comments in this show?!

Had pizza for dinner with chips and for dessert, a home-made Victorian sponge cake by Chloe called "Yum Yum". So sweet of her eh.

After tonight, it made me ponder about something though.. I live in London but do I really live in London if I discount all the travelling around Europe? Tonight's one of the few times where I hang out with local people (well ok they're all not British except Chloe; Liandi's from S Africa but you get what I mean) and just have fun. Just a simple night of watching a mindless show with ready made food but I enjoyed myself nonetheless. Oh what great fun :)

Chloe preparing pizza for us; saying a wish even though it's not her birthday

with Liandi; Faith & Chloe's friend Amy, coincidentally both of them are from NZ

*yawn* nightz! very sleepy now......

Jubilee Weekend | Afternoon Tea Party

http://www.thediamondjubilee.org/ Today is the end of the Jubilee celebrations and how better to end it off than to have an afternoon tea party in the company of friends, while watching the celebrations on our TV.  It has been quite an emotional afternoon, in the good sense of course.  I don't think I've ever seen Queen Elizabeth on TV (and heard the national anthem God Save the Queen) more than these 3 days combined, but this Jubilee weekend has made me grew to love and admire this lady.  She is 86 and reminds me so much of my own granny, and her strength is amazing.  Imagine being sworn in as queen at the age of 26.  (I mean, what was I doing when I was 26?)  On Sunday when she and Prince Philip went onboard the Spirit of Chartwell boat to watch the River Pageant, it was cold and windy but they stood throughout the 3 hours event.  It was said she was offered some hot tea and a seat, which she both said no to.  I love my grandma but I have to say I don't think

Sleep, baby sleep

I had an idea to blog about Isabelle's sleep behaviour the other day.  Before having Isabelle, I had not the slightest idea how big the sleep topic is for a baby, and now a toddler.  I merely assumed that babies will sleep, no matter what, right?  Because they are tired right?  No, of course not.  Isabelle showed me how much she could and can fight sleep even when she is tired.  As a new mum, I did not know how to read her sleepy signs, and more often than not, she would be overtired by the time I catch her signs and by then she is cranky and crying.  Oh the tears.  From Isabelle and mummy. The early months Sleep has always been an issue for me when Isabelle was born.  She cried non stop every evening for hours on end, and we had no idea what to do with her.  Colic was the word most used on such babies, and everyone comforted us that this difficult phase would be over within 3 months.  I still remembered uttering "3 months?!" under my breath.  Not 3 weeks?

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

Two Saturdays ago we were invited to the Kim's for a themed dinner, specifically a Murder Mystery dinner party.  What is that, you might ask.  It was our first time attending such a dinner too, and so how it works is: a group of people attend a dinner party.  Each is assigned a role and will be given a script to read that night.  The aim of the party is to identify a murderer in the midst of us by the end of the night.  The hosts would work off a dinner game set (they got it off Amazon) and it comes with proper invites, setting/ scene, table name cards, scripts and even a suggested menu.  Clearly RX is an Agatha Christie fan. Two weeks beforehand, we received our invites in the postbox, telling us what roles we each have been assigned and the suggested attire (and props if necessary).  Interesting yes? The dinner was to start at 7pm and we were to have 8 people that night.  It's all very mysterious… Our invitation cards assigned K the role of Monsieur Bertrand, a f
