Sunday - Day Out Alone

Woke up, MSNed with family back home, showed them my buys yesterday hehe and... was nearly late for church!

During church service (hee) I decided that I should go ChaChaMoon for my comfort food - chinese! Texted Alicia to ask for directions. whew found my way and ooh~ ordered char kwey teow (specifically "Singapore Char Kway Teow" on the menu) - something which I never crave for back home but since.. oh well I miss local food back home I thought I should give it a try. It was quite nice actually, can't complian! (It was weird tho', ordering to the ang moh guy "I want a plate of char kway teow, please.")

(not a big fan of bean sprouts but still.. yum yum YUMS)

Carnaby Street, where Cha Cha Moon cafe is (I think things/ shops here sell edgier stuff, quite an interesting little piazza on it's own); I thought that guy was for real on the second floor! A bit creepy.. esp when Halloween is just over!)

still on Carnaby Street; outside a vintage accessories store

Back on main Oxford Street; inside Benetton (I love to walk in Benetton store to see all the various colors; makes me happy!)

Walked a bit after lunch and promised myself it's just window shopping.. no more buys! Was quite fun actually, walking about by myself (in my new jacket, no less!) and decided I should head home before the sun sets. Reached home at 4.30pm and saw my brother n dad on MSN :) could see dad was happy to see me on webcam haha

home before sunset!
For Dinner.. decided to cook something light and healthy to make up for that plate of sinful char kway teow. Heard grandma loves to see me post pictures of food I cook on my blog (not that they are very elaborate) but I guess she is curious to know since she cooks so often back home. (Always asking me how much is this and that in the supermarket over here, doing mental comparisons.. she's so cute. And everytime I am going Tesco for groceries, I'll tell her "okok, I'm going NTUC now.." So she understands.) I realise it's only when Cynthia is not around that I cook so often coz she is a better cook, hence she cooks most of the time.

chicken drumstick, baby carrots & lettuce with vermicelli (aka "mee sua")

Speaking of which, yippee Cyn is coming back tomorrow so it won't be a quiet lonely house anymore! Back to cold gloomy London.. hoho
Yes if you still dunno, it is a very cold autumn this year (Alicia said she came over last year mid Nov and it wasn't even as cold as now). I have resorted to wearing leg warmers and socks to bed (jumping into an icy cold bed every night now). I managed to buy a pair of bedtime socks yesterday.. love it!

... and tada! Here's my new black trench (80% wool - v impt!) (and hehe I quote my colleague Kathryn "it's better to get something to cover your bum...") which I have shamlessly put on the cover of Vogue mag hahaha.. (don't puke, please)
Nah just testing out this cool website which I found. Unfortunately it was taken with a black background as well.. but I guess that is the best for now coz I have no full length mirror at home :(

So what have I been doing these past few days since my aunts left and before Cyn comes home? Obviously blogging! The sudden surge in posts... HAHA and... hee I am hooked on the old Jap serial 'Over Time' again! I remember it was shown on TV during my JC days and my friends and I loved it so much! So much so that I went to get the VCDs after it finished showing on TV haha (not sure how many of my friends remem this Jap seriel) But oh my.. many years on and I still think Soichiro is so cool and cute! Plus his character in the show.. awww.... *gushing like a school girl again*

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

Two Saturdays ago we were invited to the Kim's for a themed dinner, specifically a Murder Mystery dinner party.  What is that, you might ask.  It was our first time attending such a dinner too, and so how it works is: a group of people attend a dinner party.  Each is assigned a role and will be given a script to read that night.  The aim of the party is to identify a murderer in the midst of us by the end of the night.  The hosts would work off a dinner game set (they got it off Amazon) and it comes with proper invites, setting/ scene, table name cards, scripts and even a suggested menu.  Clearly RX is an Agatha Christie fan. Two weeks beforehand, we received our invites in the postbox, telling us what roles we each have been assigned and the suggested attire (and props if necessary).  Interesting yes? The dinner was to start at 7pm and we were to have 8 people that night.  It's all very mysterious… Our invitation cards assigned K the...

Cooking mee pok dry | bak chor and fishball noodles

When I touched down at Changi airport a few weeks ago, I was very hungry and K suggested grabbing a quick bite at the food court.  I immediately went for the queue at the bak chor (minced pork) noodles stall.  This one dish is very local and we simply can't find it here.  London's Chinatown has a few Malaysian restaurants with fried kway teow, chicken rice, laksa, etc but there is no authentic fishball noodles or minced pork noodles. When my friend Corinne shared this link last week, I was intrigued and I didn't know K was too.  He suggested going to the Asian supermarket on Sunday to get the necessary ingredients.  We found Dodo fishballs from Singapore here - what a win!  Unfortunately the mee pok (yellow, flat noodles) is of a darker shade here and tastes slightly different (maybe a different type of wheat?).  We found fishcakes too. http://delishar.com/2015/12/fishball-noodles-mee-pok-tah.html This is a healthier version of the hawker center'...

Our Seoul Adventure (Part 1)

Gosh life has been non-stop since coming back from Seoul.  Work has been very busy, and then Izzy had stomach flu and I was a bit under the weather too.  With this, one month just zoomed passed. Been meaning to continue our Seoul adventure. Day One To be honest we had a rocky start on the first day.  Our 2am flight was delayed till 3am and we were super groggy when we got on the plane.  Kids were sleeping and we had to wake them up.  The stewardess served us food at 4am and we had no appetite whatsoever.  Made worse by the turbulence which scared us so much.  I think in total we each slept about 4h that night.  So thankful that our kids love traveling and did not whine, but i did feel like i floated out of that plane into Incheon airport.  My original plan for Day One was to explore the palace area, have the famous ginseng chicken soup, and then visit the Bukchon hanok village.  Followed by a nice Korean BBQ for dinner.  The mo...
