Sunday was our second time to this Roman city of Bath. Time flies, we were there almost one year ago! Remember we tried to go two weekends ago but train tickets were cut throat? This time we bought tickets way in advance plus Cynthia's friends are here so we managed to get group save as well.
Weather was super erratic I have to say. We were dismayed when we realised it was gonna be a rainy day and boy was BBC accruate. It drizzled when we reached about 1pm, stopped for a while, sun comes shining thru', and then suddenly it drizzles again. And then there was sleet shower for a few minutes interval. It was like this on and off, and as forecasted, about 5ish there was hail (something like solid water droplets that bounces off my jacket haa). Anyway I thought it's more erratic than London :/
Not to let weather deter us, we still walked around this small and lovely town. My intern recommended us Sally Lunn tea room. This is the oldest house in Bath and supposedly famous for the Sally Lunn bun. Boy was it crowded and the Q just didn't seem like it was moving. Gave up and went to eat english pastry (our equiv of curry puff!) instead. That was a late lunch, and my intern also highly recommended Ben's Cookies to me saying it can't be missed. So, again foodie time. We hunted it down and had one each. Must say by this time, I was ready to puke. So much food!
Being sunday, shops close at 5pm so what to do? Go Q up at Jamie's Italian restaurant (beat the Q, Singaporean mentality!) yes this is owned by Jamie Oliver, aka the Naked Chef! *quite excited* It's always crowded as we know so we waited for about half an hour before being showed our table. Unfortunately I was too full for an early dinner and I couldn't enjoy my pasta which was actually really good but I couldn't finish it. He's gonna open another outlet at Canary Wharf later this year, which is near my place.. we are sure we're gonna go back and enjoy it proper when it opens! Prices are surprisingly reasonable as well, only about GBP10 for a plate of pasta.
