what a day it has been..! well ok not that I witnessed anything with my own eyes.. early morning Moorgate was quiet and shops were closed. Most people were wearing jeans to work and people shuffled quickly looking around for any "action" but there were only policemen everywhere and no protestors in sight. Apparently they started about noon and there were loads of them outside Bank of England, pretty near to where I work. We were told to stay in the building and not go out *whew I brought my own lunch* coz obviously our building is one of their targets.
Throughout the day we were just watching live news online while working and there was really a buildup of protestors aka angry people.. I pity the policemen actually.. I saw on the news this policeman whose head was bleeding and we saw this guy hitting the police with a long metal rod.. it was crazy. Kathryn and Paul, the brave souls decided to go out and have a quick look *timid bel decided to give a pass, contented with just watching news on the internet* Paul caught most of the stuff in action on his camera and the scary part was that they were standing right behind a line of policemen when suddenly the angry protestors just surged forward and tried pushing their way thru towards where Kat and Paul were standing. Luckily they ran away in time.. she was scared stiff and kept saying "They were mental!" when they got back. These peoeple got really quite violent, apparently we saw in the news of how they smashed the windows of a branch of RBS and went in, took stuff out and started a bonfire outside. I just wonder where these people come from?!
We were told to leave office asap.. thankfully all was quiet again when I left.. not sure where the protestors have gone to.. and this wraps up scary day one! Apparently they are gonna start again on day two as early as 7am. oh god.
