Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. This is the book which I recommend you reading now. Ironically on that fateful night before relocating here to London more than 2 years ago, WM & JH gave me this book as a farewell gift, for me read during my long flight here. Whilst I appreciated their kindness, I never quite got thru reading the first 2 chapters (and looking back I cannot understand why).
Then in June, I moved to my new place and with the daily travel on the not-very-pleasant DLR to and fro from work, I realised I should, like most commuters, be armed with a book in tow to keep me entertained.
This book is a real story of Liz Gilbert's travels to Italy, India and Bali in search of her happiness, pursuits and balance in life after her divorce. The way she writes is so real and in-your-face, I just love her style of writing. My favourite is the part in Italy where she stayed in Rome for 4 months learning the beautiful Italian language (language of love she calls it), exploring the different food places and visiting other Italian cities. The way she described the best pizza had me craving for it and making a mental note if one day I should go back Rome again.
And so armed with this book, I devoured it daily on my way to work and back home. I was very sad when I finally turned the last page. I soon realised a lot of people around me are reading this book, including M, Jos, Cherry and a few others! In fact, there is so much success in this book that Hollywood is making a movie out of it starring Julia Roberts and it's just been released in the US. Bet everyone who has read the book is equally excited like me, waiting for the movie to be released here in the UK.
