This Slovenia trip is very different compared to the rest of my city trips. This is a full on hiking/ trekking trip which I was actually err a bit worried before going haha coz I am super not your sporty girl in case you haven't known. That said, the nature and the outdoors is such an integral part of a Slovene's lives. We see families, young and old, going for walks in the woods, hiking, trekking, horse riding, etc.. and there are so many sports activities to do in this country. And then come winter, everyone would go skiing, it's almost a national sport. I think they just can't help it. The numerous mountain peaks everywhere must be too irresistible. From Bled we travelled by bus for about an hour to this other lake which is even less touristy- Lake Bohinj. To illustrate how ulu this place is (it's in the mountain valley), here is the printed google map to lead us to our hotel. Err.. very helpful.

And just when we thought we wouldn't see any nicer sights, Bohinj blew us away.
Seriously, Slovenia!
Enough said, let the pictures do the talking.
The unbelievable clear waters. I saw this guy washing his bunch of grapes in the water before sitting by the lake to enjoy his picnic.
Guess what is this? It's for people to park their bicycles.
And we decided to row a boat on the lake. Poor Jos got in first and became in charge of the oars haha
Rowing into the sunset.. romantic eh..
Waking up to more fresh air.. we were in the valley surrounded by mountains. We decided to take a cable car up to Mount Vogel where in winter, it's a ski resort.. up 1537m. And we got a shock when we saw how big the lake was:
Where we were the day before is only the extreme right hand tip of the whole picture of the lake (see the part jutting out?). We even asked the guy at our hotel if we can walk around the lake. Gasp, it's about 14km in circumference. Err no thanks, I think I'll take the bus. Even the bus ride along the lake takes about 15min.
Admiring the Julian Alps
more alpine flowersAnd then we reached Savica, the famous waterfall in Bohinj area. We walked up 510 steps in the Triglav National Park (8% land of Slovenia) to a wonderful sight.. and behold! The Savica Falls plunging into an emerald coloured pool. Never have I seen anything like this.
and continuing our trek in Triglav National Park... we passed by more amazing sights.

Can you already feel my love (& possibly yours too) for Slovenia?!
Next post will be on Ljubljana :)
