This will be a shorter post compared to the previous 2 because Munich was more of a stopover for us to fly back to London. We took the train from Bad Gastein to Salzburg, and then changed to another train to Munich in Germany, total train journey was 3.5h or so. We extended one night here and when we arrived, it was raining so heavily. Not good. We managed to take a taxi to our hotel, and there, we tried figuring out where to go the next day. With the rain as our companion. I had to send an emergency text to Philipp in London, who is from Munich, asking for tips.
Thank God, the next day the rain stopped although it was really cold and gloomy. Weather plays such a big difference coz now that is my impression of Munich! Temperatures were 2-5deg and there was no sunshine. This is M's 10th time to Munich can you believe it, so she was my tour guide. Which was great coz it's been so long since I could travel and just tag along without trying to figure out where to go, and how to get there.
First stop, Philipp recommended Tambosi, this lovely old cafe downtown. I ordered the french toast with fruits and whoa it was massive! I was one happy Bel. Very yummy.
We walked around and stumbled upon this CD shop which sells really cool chillout, loungy CDs (reminding me somewhat of The CD Shop back home). We were so impressed by this particular CD that we each got one!
This shop does stylishly looking cakes which are nice... but I am not sure if I dare to eat these blue and green cakes. umm... poisonous looking to me.. hehe although I am sure they are not!
And then we went to Viktualienmarket which was a nice market. I notice that Germans really love household ornaments made of pine, acorn, wood, etc.. making them into beautiful hanging things or ornaments. Not sure if it's because Christmas is coming or they have such things all year round.
Orange cinnamon; lavender
How cute and pretty eh?
"You go, mucscle girl!" Halloween is round the corner.
I was shocked to know that this is a big bowl of... lard!
M then brought me to the 300 year old store Dalmayr. Walked around a bit more before heading to the airport for our flight home. And this wraps up my last summer trip. Beautiful.
Lunch at Hackerhaus, where the waitresses wear traditional Bavarian costumes
Thank you Jesus for such a wonderful summer! :)
