Another good bye. To my first friend in London. To my favourite German girl. It's hard man, say good bye (my second one in 2 months!) although the reality hasn't really sunk in yet. We decided to meet up for an English afternoon tea for her farewell. Something quintessentially English. And to have it none other than The Wolesley in Piccadilly.

When I tried making a table reservation two days ago, the waiter nearly laughed out loud when I said I needed a table for two this coming Saturday. He said patiently while suppressing a laughter, "Mdm, you need to make a reservation at least a month in advance." Right. "Well okay then, we shall do a walk-in" was my reply.
We had to wait 30min for a table. The dining hall is huge with its high ceiling, and walking in, immediately you hear the sounds of people dining- the clinking of glasses, the occasional clanking of plates although almost overpowered by the hearty chatter and laughter that was in the place. It was busy busy. Waiters and waitresses were busy milling about serving tiers of their famous afternoon tea sets. And needless to say, we ordered two sets and chose our preferred blend of afternoon tea to go along.
It was bizarre coz it didn't feel like a farewell tea. It was so nice to meet up again. We talked and chatted, invariably contributing to the noisy chatter that's already going on in the hall. And because the cake stand was pretty high, it was almost amusing when we realised that both of us were trying our best to look at each other over the cake stand. And at one stage, I realised I was leaning out to my far left, just so I could see Sabrina clearly haha
Don't be mistaken; they have combined two sets of afternoon tea into one stand.
I wouldn't be able to finish this all my myself!
Tea was lovely as expected, and we finished at 530pm (no tummy space for dinner), and we walked down to Bond Street to catch the Central line. No surprises by Jubilee line's not working from Waterloo onwards again. We actually had to say a quick good bye in the tube when I reached Bank station. Again, how apt.. haha this would be quintessentially London. I think the real deal will only settle in a while for me knowing that another friend has left London, but in this day and age, I thank God for technology :)
Good bye and good luck Sabrina! Gonna miss you much I know, but also looking forward to hear about your new adventures Down Under. Sorry I have to make a special mention here- how cool again is it for your friends to buy you a helicopter ride over Sydney?!
