Camden Market is one of the well known markets here in London and yet I've never ventured there before. It's known for the weird and goth looking people (think Amy Winehouse- she lives in Camden). Finally last Saturday I arranged to explore Camden Town with Dorothy.
We met at Camden Town station, and was greeted with such a big crowd of people. We didn't know where to start. Although it's Camden Market we wanted to go to, we didn't realise that it's much more than Camden Market. Besides that, there is Camden Lock, Stables Market, and many quaint little stores lining the whole area. Yes we saw many weird looking people, but we were more drawn by the place itself.
Ironically we didn't walk into Camden Market, but we walked around Camden Lock and went to Stables Market (since 1854! where it started as a horse stable), and then we continued walking (well ok we cheated by taking a bus) to Chalk Farm because really, the sole purpose of this trip was to visit this small little Japanese cafe called Lanka in Primrose Hill. This cafe is pretty well known in the Japanese community in that area and I once met this Singaporean girl who was learning from the pastry chef here. Also, I've always wanted to go Primrose Hill because it's said that you walk up the little hill and you can see a really nice view of London. Plus, Jude Law stays nearby (!!). To digress, Liandi once stood in line behind Mr Law himself in the Starbucks in Primrose Hill! Bel was very jealous. Very jealous.
We managed to do and see what we wanted to do, I had such a lovely day hanging out with my new HK colleague and friend Dot :) We promised to come back again in the summer.
