It's a slightly delayed post but am gonna post it nonetheless! The Olympics has ended and the buzz is slowly going away, although the Paralympics is starting soon on 29th August.
Mimi came to visit and we went to watch two games together. But before that on the first Saturday it started, we decided to be brave by joining the crowds at Hyde Park, where there are big screens showing the games live, and where the atmosphere would be great.
And look what Mimi brought! 3 Singapore flags for us to cheer Team Singapore!!

When we arrived at Hyde Park, the security was just like airport security. No liquids, creams more than 100ml.

The various queues to get in. |

Waiting in line |

A sea of people. Finding a spot to sit and have picnic wasn't quite what I had in mind. |

"Where should we go?" |
|
Yes I had to dress up in patriotic colours! And wave the flag! |

1) Men's Football Semi-finals at Wembley Park - Japan vs Mexico
When we arrived, we were part of the crowd, later soon found out we were 2 out of more than 82,000 people. We were excited to be in Wembley Stadium and it was Japan vs Mexico. Like what I told my colleagues, we look more Japanese than Mexicans so we were cheering for Japan. Go Japan!! When they scored the first goal in 11minutes, we were clapping and cheering. And then Mexico scored an equaliser.. and another.. and in the last minute, another! Japan was defeated and the crowd, about half Mexicans went ballistic. It was a good game nonetheless.

2) Women's Volleyball Semi-finals - S. Korea vs USA
Two days later, we found ourselves at Earl's Court watching the women's volleyball. It was on a Thursday afternoon so we had to take half a day off work. I preferred volleyball as it's more fun and exciting to watch. This time, K joined us and being Asians, we cheered for South Korea.

Super sunny day |

See how tall the American players are in comparison? |
|
And the game started |
It was a very close match but unfortunately each set the USA team won by a few points, and so they went into the final. Well done Team USA!
And that was it. My Olympics London 2012 experience!
