Hen Party, Baby!

As far as I am aware, a hen do is not very common back in Singapore (or maybe it has changed in the past 5 years I am not sure) but I wasn't fussed about having one.  Over here, my impression of hen parties are really crazy partying and if you know me, you know I am not the party sort of girl.  Gabby and the rest of my bridesmaids were so kind to organise a hen do for me, and clearly they knew me well.  Before that...

It was a crazy busy weekend to say the least.  On Saturday morning, we had a reunion picnic with the Richards at Greenwich Park.  Liandi, Joel, Faith and Noel all whom I used to hang out with are back in London town from Perth and I was so excited to finally meet them after 2 years, and say hi to their new additions - Ezra and Ethan.

I want Ethan's eyelashes... handsome little boy

Been 2 years since we last saw Liandi

On our way to the picnic

It was probably the shortest picnic I've been to because we had to leave after an hour and start preparing for the hen do starting early afternoon.  The girls organised a spa and massage and I was told to bring my swim suit.  I had to follow Gabby because they refused to tell me where it was, or what was happening after that.

Can you tell we were very relaxed?

Each of us had a 30min treatment and most of the time we were in our robes, lying on this bed cum lounge chair thingy and had our girly chats and going to the sauna rooms and coming back to the chair again for more chats... whilst chatting can you believe the busy bride to be actually dozed off.  (I am really exhausted to be honest.)  I woke up and realised we all had to shower and get ready for the dinner at Piccadilly Circus.  Secretly glad I had that much needed power nap.  One thing I have to comment on is that.. is everyone's life really full-on at the moment?  The plate is more than full and overflowing?  Initially I thought it is because of the wedding, but speaking to the girls, everyone is just really busy!  With work, with church commitments, with friends getting married, with meet ups, etc.. it's just unbelievable.  Having a massage for each of us was just so well needed this afternoon.

Cheeky Gabby and Kine made Marketa and I wear a sash each since we were both the brides to be.  This special sash is personalised and I  loved it so much, I happily wore it over me and was all smiles.. :) gotta love these girls.

My sash that says "Princess Belinda" :))

We were led to the secret dinner place and wow the venue was beautiful.  Apparently the restaurant has been there since the 1800s.  And it was in such an unpredictable place too.  Right outside Piccadilly Circus station beside the sports bargain store Lilywhites with lots of young punks sitting by the fountain.  And there it was - the inconspicuous entrance to this jaw dropping venue.  I bet the titles on the ceiling were gold plated... there we were met with the rest of the bunch of ladies I wanted to invite - Liandi, Faith, Janine, Monica.  It was really special spending this night with everyone at the table because seriously each of them made a difference in my life here.  When I was new to London and almost friendless, they all reached out to help me in one way or another and deep friendships have been forged throughout the years even though we all don't see one another too often.  And how special to have Liandi and Faith who came in to London at the right time.  (I joked that we needed to give a special toast to their hubbies who had to stay home to take care of their little boys.  The two moms were so glad they could come out for some time out with the girls.)

Our huge table

Love this amazing lady.  I don't know how to deal with this wedding without her help!

Faith, Janine and Monica

Glad Ariel could join in too as she is usually so busy!

Dinner was great, it was like a reunion dinner and chatting about the good old days in Canada Water with the Richards.  Nothing crazy but it was an enjoyable evening chatting for old time's sake.  I really thank God for bringing these amazing girls into my life.  Of course not forgetting another bunch of dear girls back home :)

So true.  Especially for my girl friends back home!

Jubilee Weekend | Afternoon Tea Party

http://www.thediamondjubilee.org/ Today is the end of the Jubilee celebrations and how better to end it off than to have an afternoon tea party in the company of friends, while watching the celebrations on our TV.  It has been quite an emotional afternoon, in the good sense of course.  I don't think I've ever seen Queen Elizabeth on TV (and heard the national anthem God Save the Queen) more than these 3 days combined, but this Jubilee weekend has made me grew to love and admire this lady.  She is 86 and reminds me so much of my own granny, and her strength is amazing.  Imagine being sworn in as queen at the age of 26.  (I mean, what was I doing when I was 26?)  On Sunday when she and Prince Philip went onboard the Spirit of Chartwell boat to watch the River Pageant, it was cold and windy but they stood throughout the 3 hours event.  It was said she was offered some hot tea and a seat, which she both said no to.  I love my grandma but I have to say I don't think

Sleep, baby sleep

I had an idea to blog about Isabelle's sleep behaviour the other day.  Before having Isabelle, I had not the slightest idea how big the sleep topic is for a baby, and now a toddler.  I merely assumed that babies will sleep, no matter what, right?  Because they are tired right?  No, of course not.  Isabelle showed me how much she could and can fight sleep even when she is tired.  As a new mum, I did not know how to read her sleepy signs, and more often than not, she would be overtired by the time I catch her signs and by then she is cranky and crying.  Oh the tears.  From Isabelle and mummy. The early months Sleep has always been an issue for me when Isabelle was born.  She cried non stop every evening for hours on end, and we had no idea what to do with her.  Colic was the word most used on such babies, and everyone comforted us that this difficult phase would be over within 3 months.  I still remembered uttering "3 months?!" under my breath.  Not 3 weeks?

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

Two Saturdays ago we were invited to the Kim's for a themed dinner, specifically a Murder Mystery dinner party.  What is that, you might ask.  It was our first time attending such a dinner too, and so how it works is: a group of people attend a dinner party.  Each is assigned a role and will be given a script to read that night.  The aim of the party is to identify a murderer in the midst of us by the end of the night.  The hosts would work off a dinner game set (they got it off Amazon) and it comes with proper invites, setting/ scene, table name cards, scripts and even a suggested menu.  Clearly RX is an Agatha Christie fan. Two weeks beforehand, we received our invites in the postbox, telling us what roles we each have been assigned and the suggested attire (and props if necessary).  Interesting yes? The dinner was to start at 7pm and we were to have 8 people that night.  It's all very mysterious… Our invitation cards assigned K the role of Monsieur Bertrand, a f
