I am not sure about you but the thought of eBay has not really crossed my mind before. I always associate it with second hand stuff and hence didn't think about it too much.
We were looking for some furniture recently and so being urged by JX and wife, I created an eBay account and started browsing. I think I just opened a whole new world of shopping at that very point in time. Wow, all the stuff that's being sold!
I saw this beautiful refurbished corner cupboard in french linen grey and went "ooh that is really nice… the owner is selling for GBP100 huh.." Right next to it there was a button that said "Make an offer". And so I thought "maybe I will offer GBP80 and see what happens…" And so I did.
I still remember doing that before I went to church and during sermon time I checked my email and lo and behold, I received an email from eBay with the title "Congratulations on your purchase" I was shocked. Oh my gosh I think I just bought my first piece of furniture on eBay and K had no clue! I should have known that putting an offer was pretty much agreeing to buy it once the buyer accepts the price.
And not only that… to my dismay, the buyer is based in Birmingham! Gosh that is gonna be a problem because I had to arrange my own transport for this cupboard to be brought into London. A drive to Birmingham can easily take at least 2h… My colleagues were laughing at me asking me "oh Belinda, what have you done??" Well as what we learnt in business law, there is always an offer and acceptance in any contracts so I just have to find a delivery man. And K made it very clear it was not gonna be him.
Long story short, we managed to find a delivery company who was willing to bring it down for us quoting us GBP60. Which costs pretty much as the cupboard. You can probably tell that I've been banned by K to use eBay…
I think guys don't appreciate shabby chic.. anyways my colleague told me that in french, it says "House of Happiness" on the cupboard. Ha! I knew it was a good choice :)
