I've been recently reminding myself to use my juice blender more and more. If you recall, I bought it last year to make mango sago pomelo, an Asian dessert, as part of our Come Dine with Me competition amongst our friends. And the machine has been stagnant until a few months ago where I used it to make some rock melon milk shake which was pretty refreshing.
Paul who sits beside me has recently been bringing in a fresh blended juice concoction every day for breakfast and I always would ask about his "breakfast of the day". One day he would have a mixture of frozen berries, and another he would bring in a green juice. Sometimes his berry juice would also have some oatmeal as well, since it's breakfast. Personally, I'm not sure about raw oatmeal in a fruit juice..
On Friday he brought in another green looking juice and again I asked him what's inside. He told me apple, kiwi, cucumber, spinach and lime. Ooh doesn't that sound refreshing? I like the sound of it already, especially cucumber. (I love cucumber in any shape or form. I love having cucumber and lemon infused water on weekends at home.)
During lunch I went to the supermarket to get the fruits, remembering I have a packet of leftover spinach in our fridge. I was so excited to make my own green juice!

The ingredients |
Healthy Green Juice
- One apple, peeled and cored, chopped into small pieces
- one kiwi (I used a fully ripened golden kiwi. It was dripping with juice, looked so good already.)
- 1/3 of a cucumber, with skin removed, chopped into small pieces
- a handful of spinach (as it was my first time putting in this raw veg, I wanted to be safe so I didn't put too much) - this gives it the green colour
- juice of half a lime
- a teaspoon of sugar (you might call it cheating but I wanted to combat some of the sour taste from the lime)
- water (I filled the tumbler you see below half with water)

About ready to be blended |

I think I could have put in more water as Paul's version is more watery but oh well, compressed goodness - even better! |
|
My blended green juice in a wine glass with a fresh mint leaf.
Instead of putting more water, I added in some iced cubes. |

As the pulp was also in the juice, it's good to stir it before drinking as I noticed the water tend to settle at the bottom. |
It's a really refreshing drink and I loved it. K and I had a glass each and in fact, sitting here blogging about it, I think I might make it again later this afternoon.
I hope you give it a go!
