On the way from Los Angeles to San Francisco, you can either take the coastal drive, or drive inland to the National Parks. K loves nature and chose the national parks because he wanted to do some hiking for some of the days. We planned two days in Sequoia National Park and another two in Yosemite National Park. I'm so glad we did because it made the trip more balanced between nature and city life, and man, seeing those giant trees just made us gasp in awe. Like, seriously? Are they from dinosaur land?

Before that, we drove to the village of Three Rivers which would be our base for 2 nights. On our way to the lodge we passed by this serene lake which was beautiful at sunset.

We met a big family who spent a full day by the lake - kids playing, men fishing, women hanging out chatting. It looked like so much fun to spend a day. We started chatting with one of the men who kindly helped take that photo above, and he told us they live about 20miles away and they bought an annual pass which allows them to visit as many times as they want. People are generally outdoor-sy as what we saw - they will rent RVs, caravans, trucks and pile them up with all sorts of camping equipment, living essentials and be on the go, sometimes from days to weeks.
Sequoia National Park is a very big area. I mean we drove and drove… and our lodge, though said to be very near the entrance, is a good 30min drive away to the entrance.

We do feel very tiny walking in the midst of these giants
We walked a lot and got lost (a little) - where it was just us and these giants. Which freaked me out.

How awesome is God's creation? From something this small that looks like a Christmas tree, it can grow and grow into these huge giants
Acorns from these huge sequoia trees. Which are huge too but you can't tell from this pic.
Are we heading back yet? I'm tired...
