This is the second year in a row that we decided on a day to drive out to the country to "look at autumn leaves". I know, saying it to my colleagues made me sound quite "doh!" but it was actually really nice to go for a walk, to breathe in some country fresh air, and take in the burst of colours amongst God's wonderful creation. To be honest we got the idea from our friends, the Kims.. and so on Saturday, that's what we did. K and I went out to Burnham Beeches together with JX and his cousin Rachel. Really love and appreciate the chance for us to do things like that living here in the UK.
I did the research on where to go. Initially we suggested driving into Kent and I even identified two places, but then I read about Burnham Beeches in Buckinghamshire and it was about 1.5h drive from our home which we all thought was do-able within a day.
We stopped by a service station and had MacDonald's for breakfast. The drive was smooth, thank God and we arrived at Burnham Beeches at around 1130am. This place is pretty different from Winkworth Arboretum which we went to last year (autumnal photoshoot, remember?) in that this is more natural - it's a massive open space with trees and people were there walking their dogs… jogging, and we spotted a few old couples walking hand in hand which was ultra sweet. Winkworth was beautiful but it was part of National Trust so everything was taken care of (which explained the entrance fee). Both were beautiful in their own ways.

Overall we walked about 2h which to me was much longer than what I thought we would take, and by the time we were done it was 130pm and we were so ready for lunch! We had to make a decision on where to go and since we were 20min drive from Windsor, we decided to go there, plus JX had never been there before.
Oh but wait, a few more pics first! :)
We had lunch at one of their local pubs, before exploring this posh town, which has Eton across the river. Eton College, the famous exclusive private (i.e. very expensive) school where a lot of Britain's Prime Ministers graduated from, not to say Prince William too… we decided to walk to the college, which actually after a 2h walk earlier in the day, we spent another good 30min walking within Windsor and then to Eton College, all I can say was we were really tired by then.

Sorry guys, Eton College is closed to the public. The only pic I took. |

The last time K and I were in Windsor was perhaps 2 years ago, where K drove me, Chun Lei and Deborah, supposedly to Stonehenge. We stopped by Windsor for lunch and then got too lazy to continue to Stonehenge that we just explored Windsor that afternoon. haha true story. And I always remember taking this picture in front of this pub. Funnily the first time I came to Windsor many years ago I saw this pub with my name and snapped one excitedly. And then the next time was with Chun Lei and Deborah where the sign was even more apt with K around. Third time and I call it a Windsor tradition. You must be curious right? hehe
