Adele Live 25 Tour

I'll take a break from K's birthday celebrations for a bit.

The reason why we had to fly back to London by 21st March was because I had a date with Adele, well sort of.  With 10,000 other people.  At the O2.  I was so excited when I managed to get two tickets for her concert last October, but K who isn't a big fan, actually asked me to ask a friend along and that he would only be my back up choice.  I wasn't sure if he made the right choice then, but now that the concert's over, I think he did make a wrong choice!

I managed to get Coleen to take over his ticket and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening.  Unfortunately we were both perched up on the 4th floor so any attempts to take photos of Adele on my phone didn't turn out too well.

The crowd in anticipation.  She opened the concert with "Hello"

There were no supporting acts.  Neither were there any costume changes.  In fact, she is wearing the same Burberry dress for the entire tour!  It was a 2h concert just Adele belting out song after song with her powerful vocals, and entertaining us in between with her strong cockney accent (Don't know why but I love how she went "oei, oei London!").  I have to admit I struggled understanding her quick cockney accent at times and looked at Coleen for some interpretation haha.  She is naturally funny too, so that helps.  She was very affectionate towards her fans and asked a few on stage that evening to take some selfies with her, and even asked a 16 year old girl (it was her 16th birthday that day) on stage to sing Make You Feel My Love with her.  Lucky girl!

There was a centre stage and for her opening song Hello, she appeared from beneath and the crowd near her just went crazy.  After that she moved from the centre stage to the main stage in front and was mobbed.  The audience were so hungry for her and she didn't disappoint.  I thoroughly enjoyed it when she sang Make You Feel My Love, and of course her all-famous Someone Like You - which she maintains is no longer her song but everyone's - and encouraged everyone to join in.  Of course I did yes.  I was crooning at the top of my voice hah!  For another singalong which isn't the obvious choice to use, was Chasing Pavements.  Oh it was so good.  She was very down to earth and at one point said that her songs are mostly miserable and expressed surprise at how much people love them.  In fact she said she made a living by bearing grudges because all her unhappiness were channelled into her songs. Now that she has her baby boy (nicknamed Peanut), her life has changed so much and she writes less miserable songs now lol.  That's Adele Adkins for you.

I love one of her new songs Million Years Ago

As it was my first day back in London, I was battling jet lag and seriously doubting how would I survive the concert.  However that worry was uncalled for because I was so absorbed in the concert, crooning away at times that I had no idea two hours just went past like that.  Oh Adele, you blew me away.

Would I go to Adele's concert again?  Definitely.  And I would buy ground floor tickets next time.

However I'm not sure when that would be.  I heard on the radio this past weekend that Adele has announced she would be taking a 5 year break after this world tour.  "Talk about work life balance!" the radio host said.  Indeed.  Until the next time, I am just glad I managed to enjoy one of the best British singers here in London that night. #grateful

Jubilee Weekend | Afternoon Tea Party

http://www.thediamondjubilee.org/ Today is the end of the Jubilee celebrations and how better to end it off than to have an afternoon tea party in the company of friends, while watching the celebrations on our TV.  It has been quite an emotional afternoon, in the good sense of course.  I don't think I've ever seen Queen Elizabeth on TV (and heard the national anthem God Save the Queen) more than these 3 days combined, but this Jubilee weekend has made me grew to love and admire this lady.  She is 86 and reminds me so much of my own granny, and her strength is amazing.  Imagine being sworn in as queen at the age of 26.  (I mean, what was I doing when I was 26?)  On Sunday when she and Prince Philip went onboard the Spirit of Chartwell boat to watch the River Pageant, it was cold and windy but they stood throughout the 3 hours event.  It was said she was offered some hot tea and a seat, which she both said no to.  I love my grandma but I have to say I don't think

Sleep, baby sleep

I had an idea to blog about Isabelle's sleep behaviour the other day.  Before having Isabelle, I had not the slightest idea how big the sleep topic is for a baby, and now a toddler.  I merely assumed that babies will sleep, no matter what, right?  Because they are tired right?  No, of course not.  Isabelle showed me how much she could and can fight sleep even when she is tired.  As a new mum, I did not know how to read her sleepy signs, and more often than not, she would be overtired by the time I catch her signs and by then she is cranky and crying.  Oh the tears.  From Isabelle and mummy. The early months Sleep has always been an issue for me when Isabelle was born.  She cried non stop every evening for hours on end, and we had no idea what to do with her.  Colic was the word most used on such babies, and everyone comforted us that this difficult phase would be over within 3 months.  I still remembered uttering "3 months?!" under my breath.  Not 3 weeks?

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

Two Saturdays ago we were invited to the Kim's for a themed dinner, specifically a Murder Mystery dinner party.  What is that, you might ask.  It was our first time attending such a dinner too, and so how it works is: a group of people attend a dinner party.  Each is assigned a role and will be given a script to read that night.  The aim of the party is to identify a murderer in the midst of us by the end of the night.  The hosts would work off a dinner game set (they got it off Amazon) and it comes with proper invites, setting/ scene, table name cards, scripts and even a suggested menu.  Clearly RX is an Agatha Christie fan. Two weeks beforehand, we received our invites in the postbox, telling us what roles we each have been assigned and the suggested attire (and props if necessary).  Interesting yes? The dinner was to start at 7pm and we were to have 8 people that night.  It's all very mysterious… Our invitation cards assigned K the role of Monsieur Bertrand, a f
