We have been back in London for more than a week now, although it feels much longer than that! London has been experiencing a heatwave for almost 4 weeks now we hear, and boy this heat is not making the transition back any easier. Our house is very well insulated now, so at night it retains the heat and we only have one fan in the entire house. We are always reluctant to buy more fans, just because we don't usually get above 30deg in summers here. Even if it hits above 30deg, it will not usually last more than a week. So this heatwave is pretty unique - the news reported that it is the longest heatwave since 1976! Wow..
Back in London means that in the daytime on weekdays, it is just me and Isabelle at home. The first day back Isabelle was very unsettled. Boy did she cry. I think she misses Singapore.
Just because it is only the two of us, I need to come up with "what shall we do today? Where shall we go today?".
There are many places I want to visit, but I often weigh it against Isabelle's nap times, and how cranky she can get if she gets overtired, the mode of transport (do I take the train? Am I confident to drive?), it is very easy to take the easy way out. Which is staying at home. Doh. Not the best option but I do need some time to get some confidence back. The other night after putting Isabelle to bed, I actually told K I would drive to the supermarket to do some grocery shopping. I actually left the house close to 10pm (dedication isn't it?) but because it is summer, the sun was just about setting so it didn't feel like it was that late.

Now that it is the lavender season, upon my request, K drove us to the lavender farm near our home this morning. We have been here a few times by now, but I'm never tired of this beautiful purple scene every summer. If we can't go to Provence for the endless lavender fields, this would do too, especially it's only a 30min drive from our home.

I decided to bring her out for some fresh air on Friday afternoon, to the nearby park. The last time we were here, it was in the middle of winter and trees were all bare. Now the foliage has all appeared, everywhere is green and lush.
