We had a special guest a couple of weeks ago - Izzy's grandpa came to visit! It was exciting as we haven't had any guests for some time, and it's his first visit since K moved to the UK more than 10 years ago. It was nice for K to be able to show his dad our way of life here, and for little Izzy to spend some time with
ah gong.
K was very excited and planned a 3D 2N weekend getaway to the Peak District for us and rented a little cottage near the town of Bakewell. We had just came back from Singapore and a few days later we were packing again. It was about a 5h drive each way and Isabelle did really well on both ways. She didn't cry or fuss, but sat patiently with grandpa at the back of the car, either looking out, or talking, or napping. What a little champion!
A weekend with nature
It was a beautiful sunny day on our first day - bright blue skies, windy though, and we even saw two guys doing paragliding from a cliff. We stopped at two spots for pictures and did two little short walks. Grandpa, who usually claims he has seen everything, scenery wise, had to agree that it was a beautiful view in front of us. Isabelle was very excited to see the paragliders, especially when one of them landed not too far from us!

Sunny but windy |
Finally mid afternoon we arrived at our little cottage. Ok I have to say that from the pictures, it looked amazing but in real life, it was a medieval style stone cottage and it was cold. It did make me wonder how do people survive winter in this house?

Love this pic of Izzy |
From there we made it our base for the next 3 days. In a nutshell, we drove around in the sunny weather on our first day, and for the second we spent it mostly at Chatsworth Manor, one of K's fav stately homes. On the last day, we spent half a day in Bakewell, had lunch and then started our long journey back home. Overall it was a short but relaxing trip to the countryside.

Grandpa and Izzy woke up earlier and so grandpa brought Izzy outside for some fresh air and to play on the swing |

The deserted and winding road. There was a bus stop on the right here can you believe it? We were wondering the frequency of the bus that comes here - once a day? Once a week? |
Next up, back in London!
