Dear Isabelle | You are TWO!

Dear Isabelle,

For once mummy is posting this early, but then again we celebrated your second birthday at home yesterday which certainly deserves a blog post.  You are currently at Vanessa's and mummy just had a nap, so I'm feeling fresh and ready to blog.

Daddy invited 3 other families with kids to come over on 15th December from 2pm.  We pre ordered some party food and mummy ordered your birthday cake from one of our favourite bakeries in our area.  On that morning we all set off to pick up your huge cake and the food.  Sadly you were teething and so you simply rejected all forms of food and we could only feed you milk.  Mummy then tried to put you down for your nap and we told you that when you wake up, it would be your party and we would have many friends over to celebrate.  And presents, Isabelle!  You could sense some anticipation in the air and got really excited when daddy start blowing some balloons up for you.

Soon our friends arrived whilst you were sleeping.  Your toy kitchen was a hit with the kids and they loved your magic colouring book too.  Daddy had to wake you up when all the guests arrived and understandably you were in a state of confusion, coming downstairs to so many faces.  You buried your face in daddy's chest and refused to look at anyone in the eye!  We tried to introduce you to the other children but you wouldn't have any of it.

After some time, we decided it is time to sing the birthday song and usher in your grand cake.  That was when you perked up, especially when the candles were lit.  We sang Happy Birthday and you got more excited. The cake was huge, and everyone enjoyed it.  Thereafter we brought you to the presents under the tree and that's when you knew its time to open presents.  Funny this one we didn't have to teach you.  You simply walked over, chose a present and decided to tear open the wrapping paper.

You were blessed with so many toys that day, and one of your favourite was the mini supermarket trolley.  Aunt Steph asked mummy what you would like and after doing some googling, mummy thinks you would like a supermarket trolley as funny as it sounds.  Who knew - aunt Steph said she has the same thing at home for Kaylene and Kaylene still loves it.  There is something about pushing it about your home, or even the supermarket if you want to bring it outside.  For someone who dislikes any form of shopping, daddy can't imagine how someone can like a supermarket trolley lol.  But nonetheless daddy is happy to see how you lighted up when you saw the toy.  It was also hilarious that little Noah who is around six years old, gave a confused look when you unwrapped the trolley.  He exclaimed "A supermarket trolley?!" and scratched his head.  Mummy suspects he is not a fan of shopping either.

Mummy and daddy bought you two toys, one of which is a toy cash register, something which mummy didn't get the chance to own in her childhood lol, and now is reliving it through you.  I suspect mummy will have fun playing with it together with you.  See now you have both a cash register and a supermarket trolley.  Our playtime is complete!

Isabelle's been so in love with this ballerina doll called Sophia, she clutches it day AND night, and even cries when she can't find Sophia.  Naturally Sophia will be staying in this trolley as long as Isabelle is pushing it.

Bye, off I go!

Of course, it being your birthday party, we broke the rules and you got to enjoy the white chocolate sticks as well as the cake.  Mummy was very worried about the sugar rush impact it would have on you, but oh well, sometimes we need to bend some rules, especially when we are celebrating you today, baby.  It's a special day.

Mummy and daddy wish you a very happy, happy 2nd birthday our little honey-bunny.  We love you so much, and we can't wait to celebrate more with you.
We pray that you grow up well in the Lord Jesus - strong, healthy, happy, and be always guided by His wisdom and favour.  We pray that He surrounds you with the right people wherever you go, and puts you at the right place at the right time.  May you love others and always shine for Jesus.

Lots of love and kisses,

Mummy & Daddy xxxxx

Jubilee Weekend | Afternoon Tea Party

http://www.thediamondjubilee.org/ Today is the end of the Jubilee celebrations and how better to end it off than to have an afternoon tea party in the company of friends, while watching the celebrations on our TV.  It has been quite an emotional afternoon, in the good sense of course.  I don't think I've ever seen Queen Elizabeth on TV (and heard the national anthem God Save the Queen) more than these 3 days combined, but this Jubilee weekend has made me grew to love and admire this lady.  She is 86 and reminds me so much of my own granny, and her strength is amazing.  Imagine being sworn in as queen at the age of 26.  (I mean, what was I doing when I was 26?)  On Sunday when she and Prince Philip went onboard the Spirit of Chartwell boat to watch the River Pageant, it was cold and windy but they stood throughout the 3 hours event.  It was said she was offered some hot tea and a seat, which she both said no to.  I love my grandma but I have to say I don't think

Sleep, baby sleep

I had an idea to blog about Isabelle's sleep behaviour the other day.  Before having Isabelle, I had not the slightest idea how big the sleep topic is for a baby, and now a toddler.  I merely assumed that babies will sleep, no matter what, right?  Because they are tired right?  No, of course not.  Isabelle showed me how much she could and can fight sleep even when she is tired.  As a new mum, I did not know how to read her sleepy signs, and more often than not, she would be overtired by the time I catch her signs and by then she is cranky and crying.  Oh the tears.  From Isabelle and mummy. The early months Sleep has always been an issue for me when Isabelle was born.  She cried non stop every evening for hours on end, and we had no idea what to do with her.  Colic was the word most used on such babies, and everyone comforted us that this difficult phase would be over within 3 months.  I still remembered uttering "3 months?!" under my breath.  Not 3 weeks?

Murder Mystery Dinner Party

Two Saturdays ago we were invited to the Kim's for a themed dinner, specifically a Murder Mystery dinner party.  What is that, you might ask.  It was our first time attending such a dinner too, and so how it works is: a group of people attend a dinner party.  Each is assigned a role and will be given a script to read that night.  The aim of the party is to identify a murderer in the midst of us by the end of the night.  The hosts would work off a dinner game set (they got it off Amazon) and it comes with proper invites, setting/ scene, table name cards, scripts and even a suggested menu.  Clearly RX is an Agatha Christie fan. Two weeks beforehand, we received our invites in the postbox, telling us what roles we each have been assigned and the suggested attire (and props if necessary).  Interesting yes? The dinner was to start at 7pm and we were to have 8 people that night.  It's all very mysterious… Our invitation cards assigned K the role of Monsieur Bertrand, a f
